Split PDF Free — Extract Pages Without Uploading

Extract specific pages from any PDF using visual thumbnail selection or manual range input. Processing happens entirely in your browser using pdf-lib WebAssembly — no upload, no server, no account required. Your original file is never modified.

Visual Thumbnail Selection

Every page in your PDF is rendered as a visual thumbnail using PDF.js. Click pages to select them, verify the content visually, then extract your selection — no guessing based on page numbers alone.

Manual Range Input

For large documents, type page ranges directly: '1-5, 10, 15-20' to extract exactly the pages you need. Both click-selection and manual range input stay synchronized in real time.

No Upload — Full Privacy

Unlike cloud PDF tools that upload your entire document to process it, FixIt Localy renders thumbnails and reconstructs the split PDF entirely in your browser RAM. Sensitive legal, medical, and financial documents never leave your device.

How it Works

1

Upload your PDF — all pages render as visual thumbnails automatically in your browser.

2

Click the thumbnails for the pages you want to extract, or type a range like '1-5, 10'.

3

Review the page count shown in the Settings panel to confirm your selection.

4

Click 'Extract PDF' to download your new document instantly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is there a page count limit for splitting?

No server-imposed limit exists. Since thumbnails are rendered locally in your browser using PDF.js, the only practical limit is your device's processing speed and RAM. Documents with 500+ pages have been tested successfully.

Q: Can I extract just one page from a PDF?

Yes. Click a single page thumbnail or type its number in the range field. You will receive a new PDF containing only that one page.

Q: Does splitting affect the quality of extracted pages?

No. The split operation uses pdf-lib to copy pages losslessly from the source document. All content, fonts, images, vector graphics, and formatting within each extracted page are preserved exactly as in the original.

Q: Is my original PDF file modified?

No. The tool reads your PDF, creates a new document containing only the selected pages, and downloads that as a new file. Your original file on your device remains completely untouched.

Q: Can I split password-protected PDFs?

You need to remove the password protection before using this tool. Once unlocked, the PDF can be processed normally — both thumbnail rendering and page extraction happen locally.

Q: Does the tool work for scanned PDFs?

Yes. Scanned PDFs are image-based and are fully supported. Each scanned page renders as a thumbnail and can be selected for extraction. The page image quality is preserved in the output.

Q: Is my PDF uploaded to your servers?

No. The entire operation happens in your browser using WebAssembly. Open your browser's Network tab (F12) before uploading and watch during processing — you will see zero file upload requests.

Q: Can I split and then re-merge the extracted pages?

Yes. Extract the pages you need from this tool, then use the Merge PDF tool on this site to combine your split files into a new document. Both tools operate entirely locally.
